Preparation for your personal interview

1.1. For Indian males in an interview, it can be a plain dark suit with a plain tie, fitted trousers with coordinated socks. Use formal shoes.

1.2. For Indian females in interviews, it can be a professional hairstyle with hair at the back, very light makeup, not more than 3 pieces of jewelry, and a watch.

1.3. The ensemble for females can be:
A.  A full/half-sleeved cotton knee-length kurta in conservative dull colors, leggings, professional comfortable shoes or sandals. Don’t use animal prints or zari fabric.

a. Alternatively, a cotton saree with no zari, no bright color, and no sneak peek.

b. It can also be a business suit in any colour but pink, yellow, and orange with black formal shoes.

  1. Carry your documents: Carry all your certificates, identity proofs, and other documents: This includes your academic certificates, degree certificates, and any other relevant achievements. Make photocopies of these documents, especially the degree certificates, and keep them organized. Also, bring your ID proofs, such as your PAN and Aadhar Card, along with your bank account details and photographs
  2. Have an extra copy of your resume: Bring a copy of your resume or CV: Even if you’ve sent it electronically, it’s advisable to have a printed copy with you. Interviewers often like to review it before asking questions
  1. Prepare for possible questions: Anticipate common questions like “Tell me about yourself” and “Why do you want this job?” Prepare key points and facts that you can remember. Also, research the company to ask informed questions. (For more of this please subscribe to this blog)
  1. Research the company: Before the interview, gather information about the company’s background and current activities. This will help you ask relevant questions and have a better understanding of the organization. Websites and news items are the starters
  1. Carry your portfolio: Carry your portfolio, projects, internships, and past experiences: Showcase your work by carrying your portfolio or any relevant projects you have worked on. It can speak volumes about your abilities and impress the interviewers
  1. Feel confident: Confidence is a crucial accessory. Boost your confidence by practicing your answers, taking deep breaths, and staying calm. Believe in yourself and approach the interview with a positive mindset. Take a deep breath. You have already done your best. This is why you are here
  1. Get sufficient sleep: Ensure you get a good night’s sleep before the interview. Being well-rested helps you stay focused and process information effectively. Set multiple alarms to avoid any chance of oversleeping or being late
  1. Carry necessary stationery items: Have a pouch with essential stationery items like pens, pencils, eraser, stapler, scissors, glue, gem clips, safety pin, and ruler. Being prepared with these items shows that you’re organized and ready for any situation.
  1. Plan your transportation in advance: If possible, do a reiki (reconnaissance). If you’re using your own vehicle, make sure it has enough fuel and is in good condition. Book your cab a day earlier.  If you’re using public transport or hiring a cab, leave early to account for potential delays. Keep 20 minutes to take a deep breath at the venue

Remember to double-check each point on your interview checklist to ensure you arrive well-prepared and have a smooth interview experience. Feel free to share any additional items you think should be added to the checklist in the comments section below.
